Jackson Hole and Wyoming links:

  • Snowboarder/Wyoming rancher Mark Carter is a stud, is the main takeaway from this profile in Vice, and I will admit to my man-crush.
  • The Powder 8s are back, with all the same suspects I remember from the late 90s when I would follow them out of bounds for photos of the event. Unfortunately heavy snow (which is in fact, fortunate) kept the event within the bounds of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort this year.
  • History of the snowboard, with a well-deserved nod to the Snurfer, which entertained me many a winter afternoon. Then I learned about skiing, where both feet aren’t stuck to the same board, which is better.
  • If, like me, you missed out on the 17 inches of fresh snow on Saturday, you can ride it vicariously with Geoff McAndrews, who took his Vector Complex into Granite Canyon off the back of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
  • Take a spin around Jackson Hole Mountain Resort with pro skier Crystal Wright, who indeed is the “right” girl.
  • Somebody is really looking out for Walt Berling (and the handful of folks who bike from Wilson to town even in the winter), anonymously donating the money to plow the new pathway along Highway 22.
