Jackson Hole and Wyoming links:
- Town of Jackson Mayor Pete Muldoon will be featured in the Colbert Report later this month, apparently juxtaposed with Wyoming State House Rep. Tyler Lindholm. The two have been on opposite sides of local political stories that have gained national attention. Stay tuned.
- Does skiing matter? Does it matter if skiing matters, in matters related to skiing as well as non-skiing related matters? Nonetheless, Doug Schnitzpan (and I, for that matter) shall ski, as he writes in Elevation Outdoors. We will report back on the degree to which it matters in April, when skiing matters a whole lot less, no matter how much it does or does not matter during the rest of the year, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, of course.
- Jackson Hole native Hadley Hammer recounts that time she showed big-mountain-and-all-around-stud-skier Johnny Collinson around her home resort. Hilarity ensues in this fun, and funny behind-the-scenes look at the ski film industry in this feature on Teton Gravity Research.
- Todd Wilkinson weighs in on the “Stay Wild” ad recently released by Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board, which samples “The Great Dictator” while amping local winter activities.
- This president is bad for skiing and ski towns, from discouraging foreign workers to ignoring climate change, explains Marc Peruzzi in Outside Online. And he probably skis in jeans, too. Money shot line: “Face it Frosty, Trump hates winter. He’s more of a humid bucket of KFC in a golf cart kind of guy. And his ire might just be personal.”
- Enjoy this brief bio on Hole Bowl owner Jessica MacGregor and the genesis story of Jackson’s bowling revival (and the large group go-to party spot for kids and adults).
- Jackson Hole wildlife filmmaker Shane Moore is interviewed by Rebecca Huntington after being recognized for his rare footage of the elusive snow leopard. Listen or read on Wyoming Public Radio.
- Sam Simma on Dishing.com is on the beet beat, touting three great local Jackson Hole dishes that feature the colorful taproot.
- Foster Friess may throw his white cowboy hat in ring for the 2018 race for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Tom Barasso.
- Range JH features a tear-down home in East Jackson made “new” by Lauren and Chris Dickey with photos by real estate photographer extraordinaire Tuck Fauntleroy.
