No stats, analysis or links today. I would just like to pass along a very sincere wish to my friends, families and clients that 2010 bring you health, happiness and prosperity in all your endeavors.
Professionally, I am very excited about the coming year for a variety of reasons.
- At the top of the list is the fact it won’t be 2009 anymore, one of the most difficult real estate markets in a generation. With previously unheard of short sales and foreclosures now a factor in nearly every Teton County transaction, there were some very hard lessons for bankers, title companies, mortgage brokers and Realtors and their clients in the past year.
- While the Jackson Hole real estate market has not necessarily regained its former vibrancy, it has settled considerably. The past 18 months have been very difficult for sellers watching the market go down and down and down. Buyers have been in the driver’s seat, but pulling the trigger has also been hard in a clearly declining market. Now, if we are not at bottom few believe there is much further to go and an improving national market signals we won’t be far behind the rest of the country. Interest rates are low, stocks are up, consumer confidence has stabilized and Wyoming remains one of the best tax environments in the world.
- This blog. I love to write and research and I love to share what I’ve learned. I can’t wait to see how this communication platform evolves in the next 12 months.
- I live in Jackson Hole and my job is helping other people find a place to live in one of the most powerful places on Earth. Blessed I am.
Have a great 2010. As Garrison Keillor says at the close of his daily Writer’s Almanac, “Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.”
